Accessibility
The William
## Our commitment
The William is committed to providing a website, and a hotel, that are accessible to the widest possible audience, whatever your ability or the technology you use. We are actively working to improve the accessibility and usability of our website and, in doing so, aim to adhere to applicable accessibility standards and guidelines.
## Conformance status
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. This website aims to conform to **WCAG 2.1 Level AA**. It is currently **partially conformant**, which means that some parts of the content do not yet fully meet the standard and the work described below is ongoing.
Our website also strives to conform to the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) for people with disabilities. By following recognised accessibility standards, we seek to make our digital content more accessible for all users, including those with visual, auditory, motor, or cognitive impairments.
## Measures we take
- Accessibility is considered as part of our design and editorial process rather than added afterwards.
- Pages are built with semantic structure — headings, landmarks, and lists — so they can be navigated with a screen reader.
- Interactive elements can be reached and operated with a keyboard alone, and show a visible focus outline.
- Text and background colours are checked for contrast, and text can be resized without loss of content or function.
- Images that carry meaning are given text alternatives; images that are purely decorative are hidden from assistive technology.
- Motion and animation respect the reduced-motion setting in your operating system.
## Technical specifications
Accessibility of this website relies on HTML, WAI-ARIA, CSS, and JavaScript, and on the accessibility features of your browser and of any assistive technology you use. The site is designed to work with current versions of the major browsers and screen readers.
## Known limitations
Despite our efforts, some limitations remain. We are aware of the following and are working on them:
- Some photographs in the gallery carry general text alternatives rather than individual descriptions.
- Content supplied by third parties — including the booking engine, maps, and embedded social media — is not under our direct control, and its accessibility may vary.
- Material published before the date of this statement may not yet meet the standard throughout.
If you meet a barrier that is not listed here, please tell us: see Feedback, below.
## Accessibility at the hotel
Accessible guest rooms are available at The William, and our team is glad to describe them in detail before you book. If you have questions about step-free access, door widths, bathroom fixtures, visual or audible alarms, or any other feature of the building, please contact reservations at [reservations@thewilliamnyc.com](mailto:reservations@thewilliamnyc.com) or [+1 (386) 340-3277](tel:+13863403277) and we will tell you exactly what we have.
Service animals are welcome throughout the hotel. If there is anything we can prepare in advance to make your stay more comfortable, tell us when you book and we will arrange it.

We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of The William, and our efforts to maintain accessibility are ongoing. If you experience any difficulty reaching content on our website, or any barrier at the hotel, we encourage you to contact us so that we can assist you and address the issue promptly:
