A Cocktail Bar Near Grand Central: The Raines Law Room on East 39th Street
What the room is
It's a quiet cocktail room, not a sports bar or a lobby lounge. Cocktails are made one at a time, so the list stays short and the room stays quiet enough to hear the person across the table. Small plates run as long as the bar does. The same hand that keeps our suites upstairs keeps this room. The Raines Law Room does craft cocktails right.

Where it is
We're on East 39th Street between Park Avenue and Madison Avenue, and Grand Central is a few minutes on foot. The bar has its own door on 39th, so you don't come through the hotel to reach it, and the room fills with New York as well as with the people staying upstairs.
Getting a table
The bar is open to the public, so anyone can walk in. If you'd rather hold a table for the evening, Resy takes reservations. If the night reads full, call +1 646-837-6776 and ask what's left.
If you're staying with us
The Raines Law Room is downstairs if you want a serious cocktail, and the elevator or the stairs take you back up to your suite after. Ours is a Beaux-Arts brownstone that was a Williams College social club in the 1920s, with 33 suites designed with the Chelsea artist William Engel. You're steps from Bryant Park as well as Grand Central.
